Loren Receives ‘Asian Leaders Award’ for Her Climate Change Advocacy: Senator Loren Legarda receives the Asian Leader Award for Environment Policy, Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation from Former Marinduque Governor Bong Carrion and Ms. Maria Rosa “Bing” Carrion (in green gown) during the First Seagull Philippines Asian Leaders Award at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City. Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, has authored several climate-related measures including landmark laws such as the Philippine Climate Change Act and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act. She has been encouraging both the government and the citizens to engage in efforts to reduce disaster risks through various mechanisms including the production and distribution of Disaster Preparedness and First Aid manuals. Legarda is also the UNISDR Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation for Asia and the Pacific.
