SEN. CYNTHIA A. VILLAR LAUNCHES FARM TOURISM: Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Food committee, leads the launching of farm tourism initiative at the DOT main office in Makati City. The event was witnessed by Tourism Sec. Wanda Tulfo-Teo and Congresswoman Sharon Garin and representatives from various government agencies and the private sector. Villar is the principal author of the Farm Tourism Development Law (Republic Act 10816). Its counterpart in the House was sponsored by Congresswoman Sharon Garin. Both legislators strongly advocate the development of farm tourism as a profitable business proposition to farmers and farm owners by converting their farms into a tourist farm destination and to help train young people in farming endeavour.
