Worsening urban poverty due to COVID-19: Sen. Win Gatchalian, inquiring about the projected poverty incidence by 2022 during the second day of the virtual briefing of the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC), Thursday, September 10, 2020, was told that urban poverty incidence is likely to worsen because of the coronavirus pandemic. The country's economic managers said the imposition of community quarantine has likewise affected the livelihood of those living in urban areas. However, they said, the government would still be on track in achieving its target of 14 percent projected poverty incidence by 2022 as any increase next year would only be temporary and short-lived.
