Sotto on SBN 1334: Senate President Vicente Sotto III suggests amending some provisions of Senate Bill No. 1334 which seeks to provide for a national policy in preventing adolescent pregnancies and institutionalizing social protection for adolescent parents. During interpellation on the bill Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Sotto raised the positions of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) and the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines in relation to the possible infringement of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion and academic freedom as well as the position of Globe telecoms and Smart Communications on the participation of the private sector on the promotion of the comprehensive sexuality education program. “Perhaps, you might consider amending some provisions of the bill or bring it back to the drawing board so to speak,” Sotto told Sen.
