Budget for Northern Bukidnon State College: Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri urges the Committee on Finance looking into the 2021 proposed budgets of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and the Commission on Higher Education to allocate funds for the operation of the Northern Bukidnon State College in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Zubiri said the former community college has been converted into a state college in 2019 but has still to get its budget. “They are just asking a minimal P89 million so they can start operation of the school and hopefully, we can include this in the 2021 budget,” Zubiri told CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera Monday, September 21, 2020. According to Zubiri, Bukidnon was able to bring down its poverty rate from 52 percent to 31 percent due to the increase of educational satellite campuses in the province. Education, he stressed, is the key to development and reduction of poverty incidence. (Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
