Lacson wants all nominees to be within PH territory: Sen. Panfilo Lacson recommends requiring all Commission on Appointments (CA) nominees or appointees to be within Philippine territory when undergoing confirmation proceedings, including nominees who are abroad, on the day of their scheduled confirmation hearing. Lacson made the recommendation after noting that one of the 15 senior officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Air Force Col. Myroade R. De Leon, was only virtually present during Wednesday’s hybrid hearing, September 23, 2020. De Leon is currently attending a fellowship program in Washington D.C. “Diplomat or not, I think anybody who will undergo confirmation should be in Philippine territory...so (that) he will be covered by the oath administered to him and to the others by the (CA) secretary,” Lacson said.
