Give more teeth to Mega Cebu Development Authority: Sen. Nancy Binay says the bill on the creation of the proposed Mega Cebu Development Authority (MCDA) should be given more teeth to ensure cohesiveness between its officials and the concerned local government executives, insofar as its scope and functions are concerned. “There’s always the possibility that the local officials and provincial government will come in conflict with the MCDA on matters that need to be enforced. We have to address this to avoid conflicts and prevent delays in the implementation of the projects,” Binay said during Monday’s virtual hearing on Senate Bill 1037 or the proposed Mega Cebu Development Authority Act, September 28, 2020. The measure seeks the creation of MCDA which will be tasked to formulate, coordinate, regulate and monitor plans, policies and programs for the sustainable development and integration of Metropolitan Cebu area and the province of Cebu.
