On the P35 Million Fund for the DSWD Adoption Process: Sen. Pia Cayetano expresses hope that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be able to utilize the P35 million allocation in its 2020 budget for the hiring of social welfare and administrative workers who will attend to children who need to be put in foster care or placed for adoption. Cayetano, during the hybrid marathon plenary session Tuesday, November 17, 2020, lamented that the funding remained in “limbo” until now because the Department of Budget and Management has required the DSWD to justify its use. “There are about 1.8 million children that need to be put in loving homes and we put P35 million already to cover the plantilla positions.
