On China’s reported draft law authorizing the use of weapons to enforce maritime laws: Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., during Thursday’s Commission on Appointments’ Defense Committee hybrid hearing on the promotions and nominations of 60 senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, November 19, 2020, asks Vice Admiral ErIck Kagaoan his position on the reports that China has drafted a Coast Guard law allowing its forces to use weapons in enforcing maritime laws in its claimed territories in the West Philippine Sea. Kagaoan replied that issues regarding the disputed territories are being handled by the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea, of which he was a member.
