Poe to DOTR: Suspend RFID Implementation: Sen. Grace Poe during the hybrid plenary session Monday, December 14, 2020, sponsors Senate Resolution No. 596, calling on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to suspend Department Order (DO) 2020-12, requiring for cashless or contactless transactions for all vehicles travelling on toll expressways starting November 2020. The deadline was later extended to December this year. “Cashless transactions in our expressways are indeed ideal especially in this time of pandemic… however, effective policies are not borne out of good intentions alone. DO 2020-12 does not seem to take into account the preparedness of our toll expressway service providers to comply with such an order. The people end up being the ones aggravated in the end. Our constituents have suffered enough during this pandemic. Traffic jams and toll problems should be the least of their concerns,” Poe said. (Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
