Finding solutions to bottlenecks in vaccination roll-out: Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, during Wednesday’s hybrid plenary session, February 17, 2021, asks what the bottlenecks or obstacles are in the rollout of COVID-19 program which were brought out during the Committee of the Whole hearing held last month. Pimentel was told that one of the issues raised by the vaccine providers was indemnity for those inoculated and suffered serious adverse effect. “I think the issue of exemption from the Local Government Code and the Auditing Code is a very, very important provision for our local government units (LGUs). The ability of private entities to purchase vaccines is also a very important concern for many of our citizens and institutions, Your Honor, and of course, these are the usual safety concerns,” said Sen. Sonny Angara, chairman of the Finance Committee and sponsor of Senate Bill No. (SBN) 2057, An Act Expediting the Procurement and Administration of Vaccines for the Protection Against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).
