Long -term solutions for food security: Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go calls on the Department of Agriculture to continually lay down long-term solutions towards food security during the virtual hearing of the Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform on the alarming increases in the prices of food products, Monday, February 22, 2021. Go also commended President Rodrigo Duterte for issuing Executive Order No. 124 which addresses the rising prices of pork and chicken products by imposing a price ceiling for two months in Metro Manila. He also appealed to Agriculture Sec. William Dar, Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez, and the private sector to monitor the prices of food products and “help each other in protecting the public from widespread hunger.” “In these extraordinary times, the government must act swiftly to address the needs of less fortunate Filipinos. Ensuring affordable prices of agricultural products remains to be one of the priorities of this administration. We cannot afford to impose additional burdens on ordinary Filipino families for they deserve quality, sufficient nutritious food on their tables,“ Go said. (Screen grab/ Senate PRIB)
