Villanueva wants law regulating firecrackers evaluated: Sen. Joel Villanueva raises the need to evaluate Republic Act 7183 or the law regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices and find out its weaknesses. Villanueva, during the hybrid public hearing of the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs on several proposed measures seeking to ban the use of firecrackers in the country, said there seems to be a problem in the implementation of the law and it could be one of the reasons why some fireworks manufacturers and sellers choose not to comply with it. “We are here to listen and to help in any way we can. Hopefully, the PNP could provide us information on how we are doing with the implementation of RA 7183, because at the end of the day, even if we pass another law, it still will not be effective if we will not implement it properly,” Villanueva said Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
