Recto: Give LGUs more flexibility in COVID-19 vaccination rollout: Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto introduces an amendment to Senate Bill No. 2057 which seeks to expedite the procurement and administration of COVID-19 vaccines during the hybrid plenary session Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Recto, in his proposed amendment, wants to allow local government units (LGUs) to formulate their own list of vaccine recipients and implement their own operation procedure if it would expedite and enhance the efficiency of the inoculation process and prevent the spoilage of vaccines. “We want certain flexibility with the LGUs… According to the national government, the priority will be the health workers, but it will appear that the first jabs will not be given to the health workers. Like I said, the practicality on the ground will necessitate certain flexibility and that is proving already today as we speak. It doesn’t mean we will not prioritize the health workers; we're just saying that we need to give LGUs some flexibility,” Recto said. (Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
