Drilon agrees with provision on procurement of ancillary supplies and services: Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon agrees with a new provision during the period of amendments on Senate Bill No. (SBN) 2057 or the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021. The amendment would allow local government units to directly procure ancillary supplies and services necessary for the storage, transport, deployment, and administration of COVID-19 vaccines without going through the Department of Health (DOH) and the National Task Force (NTF). Drilon, who proposed a similar amendment, said he had no objection to the new provision. “That will serve the purpose of removing the impression that procurement of ancillary supplies and services would have to be cleared by the DOH and the NTF. It would serve the purpose which I had in mind,” Drilon said Tuesday, February 23, 2021. (Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
