Presentation of Senate Medal of Excellence: Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri extols the “super outstanding individuals” for bringing honor and pride to the country which emerges as the top country in Southeast Asia for winning the most number of medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. During the awarding ceremonies and presentation of the Senate Medal of Excellence at the hybrid plenary session September 6, 2021, Zubiri said the “ladies and gentlemen of the Olympic team” will be the first batch of honorees of this prestigious award for their accomplishments in their chosen fields, as well their contribution to nation-building to bring honor and pride to the country. Awarded were weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz who brought home the first-ever Olympic gold medal; silver medalist boxer Nesthy Petecio; Carlo Paalam who also brought home the silver medal in the boxing competition; Eumir Marcial who won the bronze, also in boxing competition.
