Senate just doing its work: Senate President Vicente Sotto III reminds resource persons during the continuation of the virtual hearing on the 2020 Commission on Audit (COA) report on the utilization of the Department of Health (DOH) budget, particularly on its expenditures for the Covid-19 program Monday, September 13, 2021, that the Senate is doing its work as mandated by the Constitution and has no intention of bullying people or specific agencies. “It so happens that the Constitution says the legislature has the power of the purse. So, we are doing our committee work thru the Committee on Accountability (Blue Ribbon). We are looking how the people’s money is being spent. The people has the right to know,” Sotto explained. He also said that the Senate is looking into the possibility of amending the creation of the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) depending on the recommendation of the Blue Ribbon Committee.
