Can DICT assist DOH?: Sen. Francis “Tol” Tolentino asks officials of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) during the presentation of its proposed P9.06 2022 billion budget Monday, September 20, 2021 whether the agency could assist the Department of Health (DOH) in its logistics, supply chain, warehouse and inventory management system. “Can you help the DOH or do you do this if there is a request or can you do this even without a request coming from the DOH?” Tolentino asked. DICT Undersecretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic said the vaccine law mandates DICT to help DOH in the supply chain monitoring. “But as to the question whether we should help DOH or not in the subsequent years, I think it can be easily done through a single memorandum of agreement (MOA) and the MOA we signed last year is encompassing as far as the Covid-19 efforts are concerned,” Caintic explained. Tolentino said the DICT should be the prime government agency in providing auditing of stock support and utilization of cloud-based inventory management system for all government agencies, including the Land Registration Authority in the future.
