Additional benefits for solo parents: Sen. Risa Hontiveros during the interpellation period on Senate Bill No. 1411 Monday, November 8, 2021, tells colleagues that her committee and the Department of Finance had reached an agreement concerning the provision of additional benefits to solo parents. The measure seeks to amend Republic Act No. 8972, otherwise known as An Act Providing for Benefits and Privileges to Solo Parents and their Children. “At the proper time, I would be amending the provision on Universal Discounts for all solo parents and replacing it with targeted subsidies for indigent solo parents, a proposal which we have finally received support from the DOF, as well as from the Department of Interior and Local Government,” Hontiveros said.
