2022 budget will allow people to earn and children to learn: Sen. Pia Cayetano, during a hybrid plenary session Tuesday, November 9, 2021, delivers her co-sponsorship speech on House Bill 10153 or the 2022 General Appropriation Bill that intends to future-proof and use strategic foresight, not only in the battle against Covid-19 and learning to live with the virus, but to also uphold inter-generational equity and being prepared for whatever challenges that lie ahead. Cayetano, senior vice-chairperson of the Committee on Finance, underscored the need to seize the opportunity to bring children and young adults back to school, as she thanked Sen. Sonny Angara, chairman of the Finance Committee for supporting the budget for the safe return to face-to-face classes. “I thank the chairperson for his trust. Mr. President, dear colleagues, I ask for your support in passing this proposed budget. We need a budget that allows the people to earn and our children to learn. I am certain, with the wisdom of this collegial body, we can find ways to augment the budget of the Department of Health and attached agencies and corporation, the Department of Education and attached agencies, Commission on Higher Education, State Universities and Colleges and other agencies,” Cayetano said.
