Angara prays for newly-elected leaders: As Senate resumes regular session two weeks after the holding of the national and local elections Monday, May 23, 2022, Sen. Sonny Angara says he is grateful for the democracy Filipinos continue to enjoy and, in a prayer, asks for the protection and guidance of “duly-elected leaders and public servants that they may fulfill their promises of good governance for the betterment of our people.” Angara paid tribute to colleagues whose terms are ending on June 30, 2022 — Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, Senators Panfilo Lacson, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Leila de Lima and Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao. “As the curtain falls on some of our colleagues in the 18th Congress, this august chamber is only imbued with more dignity, more gravitas because of their wisdom, diligence and brilliance that they have imparted to all of us,” Angara said.
