Gatchalian sponsors bill declaring National Baptist Day: Sen. Win Gatchalian, chairman of the Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture, sponsors Monday, May 23, 2022, Senate Bill No. 2522, which seeks to declare the second Thursday of January every year as a special working holiday, to be known as the National Baptist Day. In sponsoring the measure, Gatchalian said the celebration of the National Baptist Day will honor our brothers and sisters who belong to Baptist churches and recognize their contributions to nation-building. “We are not proposing to legislate the National Baptist Day on the mere basis of numbers. The Baptists have distinguished themselves for their involvement in our communities by building schools and hospitals, and by giving much needed aid to communities struck by calamities.” (Joseph Vidal / Senate PRIB)
