Fighting the good fight: Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto bids farewell to his colleagues in the upper chamber during the last session of the 18th Congress, Wednesday, June 1, 2022. In his valedictory speech, Recto acknowledged the outstanding service and dedication rendered by each member of the chamber who worked diligently in ensuring the delivery of public service, especially during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. In passing the Bayanihan laws, Recto said, the Senate improved "what the administration wanted, instead of merely ratifying it". “I hope that in this distant future when history will judge our acts during the time of peril, its verdict will be kind. History will tell future generations that when Covid ravished the country, 24 men and women rose to the challenge and brought hope to a people in despair,” Recto said. The Senate adopted Senate Resolution 1021 commending Recto for his excellent performance and invaluable contributions to the success of the 18th Congress. (Joseph Vildal/Senate PRIB)
