'Getting what we more expect and much more': Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson looks back on his career of over 50 years as a public servant as he bids goodbye to his colleagues in the Senate Wednesday, June 1, 2022. In his valedictory speech before the sine die adjournment of the 18th Congress, Lacson recalled that as a child, he never dreamed of becoming a senator. "Sometimes, life can be full of mystery. We get what we don't expect and much more," said the former Philippine National Police chief, who would later serve three terms as senator after being elected in 2001, 2007 and in 2016. "I have gone full circle in this lifetime. I've experienced the best and the worst of life," Lacson recounted. "I'm finally going home and allow the evolution of the country's long line of legislators to take its course," he said. The Senate adopted on Wednesday proposed Senate Resolution No. 1016 commending Lacson for his invaluable contributions to the Senate and to Filipinos during his term as a senator.
