Just do it: Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III urges the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to start with its study on rightsizing particularly in identifying government agencies that can be merged with other offices and those that can be abolished. Pimentel, during Thursday’s hearing of the Committee on Finance, October 6, 2022, on the proposed 2023 budgets of the DBM and its attached agencies and various allocations under the Special Purpose Funds, said instead of waiting for a law to be passed by Congress, DBM should already begin with its study. “Just do it. Review and submit recommendations,” Pimentel added. Budget Sec. Amenah Pangandaman told the panel that the agency is actually starting with the study and has, in fact, a couple of recommendations that will be presented to the Office of the President; however, a law is needed for those employees who will be affected by the rightsizing.
