Cure for poverty and crime incidents: Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri believes that increasing the wages of Filipino workers will result in higher productivity and lead to a better and stronger Philippine economy. Appealing to businessmen during the Committee on Labor, Employment, and Human Resources Development, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Zubiri likened the proposed one-time wage increase as a bitter pill that needs to be taken to help cure some of the country’s problems such as poverty and crime incidents. “In Mindanao, the minimum wage is P300 to P370. How can you live as a person? We always complain about peace and order. We always complain about theft. We always complain about scammers. Unless we come up with a living wage, these will not be resolved. A decent life costs a decent wage,” Zubiri pointed out. (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
