Bigger funds for bigger teachers' allowance: Sen. Pia Cayetano stresses the need to adequately fund the proposed increase of teaching supplies allowance of public school teachers from P5,000 to P10,000. During the plenary session on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Cayetano, who has been defending the Department of Education's budget, reminded her colleagues that increased allowances would entail bigger funding under the annual General Appropriations Act, noting other pressing issues faced by the education sector. "It is my fervent hope that we will be able to find sufficient funding for all of these," Cayetano said while interpellating Sen.
