On jeepney modernization program: Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito says issues affecting the implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program should be addressed. “We want to find out where the clog is. Is it in (franchise) consolidation or in the financing (of the vehicle)? The only way that our operators and drivers can achieve this (jeepney modernization) is if we can have an effective financing scheme,” Ejercito said during the third public hearing on the Jeepney Phase-Out and Assessment of the PUV Modernization Program Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The senator said he also wants to hear from the Department of Transportation how it utilized the modernization budget amounting to P7.5 billion. “I want to find out why the budget for the modernization was not fully utilized.
