Penalize abusive traffic officers: Sen. Raffy Tulfo presides over the Committee on Public Services hearing to discuss a proposed measure that will impose administrative sanctions on traffic enforcers who commit errors in apprehending motorists. The bill aims to hold erring traffic enforcement personnel accountable for their actions and prevent them from abusing their authority. During Tuesday’s hearing, August 13, 2024, Tulfo, author of Senate Bill No. 1976 or the Fair Traffic Apprehension Act, said the committee will tackle problem that motorists usually encounter with abusive traffic officers. “In today’s hearing, we will discuss a problem that is usually being encountered by motorists when they are apprehended for a supposed traffic violation, and we have people from traffic management offices to enlighten us on the proper procedures in apprehending a traffic violator,” Tulfo said. The bill seeks to provide compensation to drivers of motor vehicles who are wrongly apprehended for traffic violations.
