Streamlining setting up business: Sen. Grace Poe, chairperson of the Committee on Finance, asks the economic adviser of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the steps the administration has taken to make it easier for an investor to set up, and even continue running, a business in the country. On the second day of Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) briefing with senators on the proposed Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) on the proposed P6.352 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for next year, Poe told Sec. Frederick Go, who was plucked out of the corporate world to lead the newly created Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, that he was selected by the President to give advice on the needs of the private sector, particularly the one that fuels the economy. “What can we do to streamline setting up a business in the country? Were there actions taken since you assumed office to make it easier for an investor to set up a business, and even to continue running a business in the country? What efforts have this administration done?” Poe asked. Go, who was the CEO of Robinsons Land Corp., said he had, on multiple occassions, opportunities to discuss with the President the possible solutions to ease doing business in the country.
