Omnibus sponsorship for local holidays: Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito delivers an omnibus sponsorship on seven local bills that would declare special non-working holidays and one special working holiday for different provinces in the country. During Wednesday’s plenary session, August 14, 2024, Ejercito said that in considering the local holiday bills the following criteria were adopted: It is the founding anniversary or charter day of the concerned LGU, it involves honoring a hero in the locality, it commemorates an event with historical or cultural importance subject to the favorable endorsement of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, among others. “These bills are celebrations of local history and cultures. This local celebration formed an essential part of national identity. Every province, city, town, barangay and village has its own story and all these stories are important,” Ejercito said. The local bills are House Bill Nos. 3970, 4838, 3967, 5843, 2725, 3966, 5830, and 3977. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
