Scrutinize police operation in KOJC compound: Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go says the continued presence of police personnel outside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City and the terror it sows to the community are causes of grave concern. Go called for the “scrutiny of the police operation” which he said led to the death and injury of civilians. “I want to address this disturbing exercise of power or use of excessive force in the implementation of the warrant of arrest against him (KOJC pastor Apollo Quiboloy). While it is the duty of the police to serve an arrest warrant, there is no excuse of using force creating fear, compromising the safety of civilians, disrupting the peace of the community and the face-to-face classes of students enrolled and occupying a place of worship,” Go said during the public hearing conducted by the Committee on Justice and Human Rights at the Sangguniang Panlungsod building in Davao City Friday, September 6, 2024. Go reminded law enforcers to be prudent in their actions and to remain truthful to their mandate to serve and to protect. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau) |
