Senate approves expanded tertiary education: Sen. Joel Villanueva stresses that knowledge is not only obtained inside the classroom, because lessons could also be learned through experience. “This is the concept of ‘lifelong learning,’ which you will see in ETEEAP, Villanueva said in his manifestation upon the approval on third and final reading on Monday, September 16, 2024, of Senate Bill No. 2568 or the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) Act. “In ETEEAP, all of a person's work experience, formal, informal, and non-formal learning will have equivalent points or ‘credit’ to obtain a suitable bachelor's degree or higher within a shorter period of time,” the senator added. Villanueva thanked Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero for entrusting the former the duty of defending the measure. Escudero heard the bill in the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, and sponsored the same at the plenary. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
