Evidence to disqualify Guo material: Sen. Grace Poe stresses that there is a material evidence to disqualify dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from reclaiming the post. During the hearing of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, on the alleged criminal activities perpetuated by the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), she said that while the function of the Commission on Election is just ministerial to accept the application of the candidates who will run, it has also the authority to disqualify. Poe recalled that she went through the same process of proving her Filipino citizenship when she ran for president in 2016 and has proven her the same before the Supreme Court. “It is also a great shame for us that after exposing all of these (anomalies) and really there is a big doubt (on her qualification to run for public office). And yet she will still be allowed,” Poe said. The senator said Guo could still appeal to the court but what is important is for the court to decide before the printing of ballots.
