Taguig agro-industrial hub: Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano urges the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) to explain the cause of delay of the Taguig Agro-Industrial Hub for Freshwater Aquaculture and Urban Planning project at the Laguna Lake. During Thursday’s budget hearing, October 10, 2024 of the Finance Subcommittee B on the proposed 2025 budget of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Cayetano expressed dismay over the repeated absences of LLDA General Manager Senando Santiago in several Senate committee hearings, particularly in budget deliberations. “Please tell him (LLDA GM Santiago) he might not like what I am going to say but he has to be here,” Cayetano said. “If he was here, I was going to ask him, because some funds from the Department of Agriculture (DA) were wasted. Is the LLDA going to reimburse that because of their ‘red tape’? A lot of funds were lost here because of that,” he stressed. The Taguig Agro-Industrial Hub project aims to implement enterprise-level production activities in urban agriculture such as mushroom production, duck production and processing, among others.
