What about the victims of drug dealers: Sen. Robinhood Padilla, during the Blue Ribbon Subcommittee hearing Monday, October 28, 2024, on war against illegal drugs in the country, appeals to colleagues to separate politics from reality and see the reality that drug is a problem, not only in the Philippines but of the whole world. Speaking from his experience as a convicted felon, Padilla said he knows the ‘underworld’ first hand and that there are so many heartless criminals. “We talked about the victims of the so-called war on drugs, but we didn't discuss the victims of drug dealers, how their children are killed, their spouses are killed, their neighbors are killed, how drugs have destroyed the lives of OFW families, how inside Bilibid, where I was imprisoned for three years,” the senator said in Filipino “Our nation is on the brink of a great disaster. If our police force does not stand up, if our law enforcement does not take a stand, we will be defeated by syndicates that reign and cook drugs everywhere,” he added.
