Marawi siege should not be forgotten: Sen. Robinhood Padilla, during Tuesday’s public hearing of the Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation and Victims’ Compensation, November 5, 2024, on Senate Bill No. 2828 which seeks to amend the Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act, expresses gratitude for continuously providing compensation to fellow Muslim and Christian brothers and sisters who are victims of 2017 Marawi City siege. Padilla, a Muslim convert, reminded that the Marawi war should not be forgotten. “What happened here is that the Filipino people succeeded against a foreign ideology, which is ISIS. We won here, our country won against the ideology that destroys our religion,” the senator said in Filipino. “And we hope that you will continue to help us rise again because we are the victims.
