Continuity of big-ticket projects: Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, during the interpellation on Senate Bill No. 2878, or An Act Reorganizing the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) into the Department Of Economy, Planning And Development (DEPD), expresses optimism that there would be continuity in big-ticket projects once there will be a full-pledged department overseeing these projects. Ejercito noted that there are infrastructure projects that need decades of planning, and with NEDA, if it becomes a full-pledged department, it can make sure that there is continuity in the implementation of the projects even if there is a change in the administration. “There are some infrastructure projects, especially the big-ticket items, that need 20, 30 or even 50 years of planning... we’re hoping that NEDA, when it becomes a full-pledged department, can make sure that its programs would be continuous... and transcend different presidencies,” Ejercito said on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
