Ammunition manufacturers in Bataan: Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zuburi sponsors Senate Bill No. 2900, also known as the Special Defense Economic Zone (SPEDEZ) Act, during plenary session Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The proposed legislation seeks to establish the Special Defense Economic Zone within the Government Arsenal Defense Industrial Estate located in Camp General Antonio Luna, Lamao, Limay, Bataan. Zubiri said the bill is a complementary measure for the Self Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) law. “The big question was, where will we put the defense investors? Which of our economic zones would be best suited to welcome defense manufacturers looking to set up shop here? The truth is we cannot simply let these defense investors build their plants right next to food processing facilities, general merchandise producers, even electronic micro-chip manufacturers,” Zubiri said. He said it would be best to set up ammunition manufacturers in one place where they won’t be a hazard to the general public. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
