Estrada flags irregular surge in San Juan voter registrations: Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on how it plans to address the huge increase in registered voters in San Juan City, which he finds highly irregular. During the inquiry of the Subcommittee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation into the indiscriminate issuance of barangay certifications Monday, December 16, 2024, Estrada cited the 32 percent increase in the number of registered voters as well as the glaring disparity between the actual number of residents and the number of registered voters in at least nine barangays in the city. “Very glaring ang nangyayari sa aming bayan na talagang malaki ang increase ng flying voters o flying registrants or whatever you may call it, as compared to all the cities here in Metro Manila. How can we rectify the wrongdoings of the officials leading there in San Juan?” Estrada asked. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia informed the panel that the matter is currently under investigation by the task force, which is expected to present its findings before the end of the month.
