Expanding internet access: Sen Win Gatchalian says the approval of Senate Bill No. 2699, otherwise known as the Konektadong Pinoy Act, on third and final reading will expand internet access and facilitate the development of a robust information and communication infrastructure that will empower education, drive economic growth, strengthen public services and enhance disaster response. “This proposed measure will establish a competitive and innovation-driven data transmission industry that will safeguard the public interest, promote fair competition, encourage investment in critical digital networks, and equip both the government and the public with the necessary tools to maintain vital communication channels,” Gatchalian said during the plenary session Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He said he voted for the approval of the bill because a weak communication structure means a lot of missed opportunities and limited access to essential services.
