CA confirms DHSUD, DFA, AFP officials: The Commission on Appointments, headed by Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, confirms the ad interim appointments of two cabinet secretaries, diplomats and military officials before the Third Regular Session of the 19th Congress goes on sine die adjournment on June 14, 2025. During plenary deliberation Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the powerful body confirmed Jose Ramon Aliling as the secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD) and Ma. Theresa Lazaro as the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Prior to this, Aliling led the Jose Aliling Construction Management Group and served as DSHUD undersecretary from 2022 to 2023. Lazaro, on the other hand, replaced former DFA chief Enrique Manalo and the second female career diplomat appointed as DFA Secretary after Delia Domingo Albert in 2003. The CA also confirmed the appointments of 119 generals, flag officers, and senior officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 59 DFA officials.
