VILLAR RECEIVES GALING BATAEO AWARD
Joins fellow Bataeos in commemorating Araw ng Kagitingan

Nacionalista President, Senator Manny Villar, whose mother Curita Bamba hails from Orani, Bataan will be presented with Galing Bataeo Award tomorrow (April 8) as the whole province commemorates Araw ng Kagitingan.

This award bestowed upon me by Bataeos is truly special, not only because I join a distinct list of distinguished men and women who have been recipients of the same award in the past. Also because, Bataan is the birthplace of my mother, so it is truly an honor to receive this recognition. It is a tribute to my mothers roots, says Villar.

In commemorating the gallantry and bravery of World War II heroes who exemplify the spirit of Bataan, the Provincial Government of Bataan led by Governor Enrique Garcia invited notable sons and daughters of Bataan. Besides being the recipient of Galing Bataeo Award, Villar is also the guest of honor for the said event.

Now, more than ever, the spirit of Bataan should live on among our countrymen. The heroism that transpired on that fateful day of April 9, 1942 is truly an integral part of our nations history. It is as relevant now as it is then, cites Villar.

Whenever my hectic schedule would allow it, I look forward to accepting invitations from Bataeos. It gives me an opportunity to mingle with them and revisit my roots. I also, to the best of my abilities, support their worthy projects and programs, adds Villar.

In August last year, Villar inaugurated a fishport in Pantalan Bago, Orani to help revive the fishing industry in Bataan. Orani has always been a popular fishing town. Villars parents, while they were still living in Orani, used to buy and sell seafood which his mother used to bring all the way to Divisoria market in Manila.

The Araw ng Kagitingan program in Bataan, including the awarding ceremonies of Galing Bataeo Award will be held at the Capitol Grounds of Balanga, Bataan at 5pm tomorrow (Saturday, April 8).
