Press Release August 9, 2006 Kiko: On Senate-Palace ties Todays Finance Committee hearing is proof that despite certain differences with Malacañang , both the Executive and the Legislative branches can and should be able to engage constructively within the parameters of the rule of law and the Constitution. We may not agree or see eye to eye on other areas but that should not be a hindrance in exercising courtesy to a co-equal branch. I support efforts at dialogue and constructive engagement even if there are areas wherein we do not see eye to eye with the executive simply because there is no way that one branch can ignore another and still expect to have a dynamic and effective Constitutional democracy. |
