Sen. Jinggoy Estrada condoles with
Max Soliven's family and the nation

Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada expressed his deepest condolences to the family of veteran journalist and Philippine Star publisher Max Soliven who passed away Friday morning at a hospital in Tokyo, Japan.

"My family and I offer our prayers for Mr. Soliven as we grieve with his wife Preciosa and their children," Estrada said. Soliven succumbed to complications arising from pneumonia. He was 77 years old. Soliven was with his wife, Preciosa, on a trip to Japan at the time of his death.

Estrada said the death of Soliven is a very sad occasion for the Philippine media industry and the nation as a whole. "The Filipino people lost an icon and a stanch advocate of press freedom," Estrada said.
