PRESS STATEMENT OF SENATOR REVILLA
ON GOV. MALIKSIS ALLEGATION THAT THE SENATOR
MANIPULATED HIS SUSPENSION ORDER

I categorically deny any involvement regarding the suspension order of Cavite Governor Ayong Maliksi today.

While it is true that there had been previous talks between me and the governor, those talks were purely about the possible coalition of our respective political parties, the Lakas Party to which I belong and the Liberal Party to which Gov. Maliksi belongs.

I do not deny that the name of my wife, Mrs. Lani Mercado came up as a possible candidate for the vice-gubernatorial race in the province of Cavite, but I never pleaded for nor will I twist arms for my wife to be fielded as Gov. Maliksis running mate in the upcoming local election.

Let it be known that my wife is not running for vice-governor of Cavite, or for any position for that matter for personal and political reasons.

Thus, the accusation of Gov. Maliksi that I have a hand in the serving of his preventive suspension order is baseless and unfair. This matter is between him and the people of Cavite. It is also a matter between him and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
