VILLAR FILES CERTIFICATE OF CANDIDACY
Vows to fight for independence of the Senate and maintain neutral stance

After hearing mass at the Manila Cathedral with his family, party-mates and supporters, Nacionalista Party President Manny Villar proceeded to the COMELEC, to file his certificate of candidacy (CoC) as an independent candidate.

"As an independent candidate, I will run my campaign based on principles. I am confident that there is ample room for people with a neutral stance in the government especially amidst the political turmoil and heated debate on issues," says Senate President Villar who was accompanied by his wife Congresswoman Cynthia Villar and their children Paolo, Mark and Camille.

Also present were Representatives Alan Peter Cayetano (who also filed his CoC) & wife Lani, Boying Remulla, Timmy Chipeco, TG Guingona, Joel Villanueva, Rimpee Bondoc, Joey Hizon & wife Lita among other Nacionalista party-mates as well as Couples for Christ led by Frank and Gerry Padilla.

Fresh from round-the-clock sessions at the Senate, where he led the approval of 109 bills since he assumed the Senate presidency in July last year, Villar says, "I am looking forward to hitting the campaign trail, as an independent."

Villar, popularly known as Mr. Sipag at Tiyaga, will still emphasize on the value or importance of hard work and perseverance among other advocacies such as entrepreneurship, protection of women, livelihood training, environment preservation, among many more.

"From the very beginning, I have espoused sipag at tiyaga, it will be no different in this election. I am a living example of how hard work and persistence can make one successful. At the end of the day, it will all depend on how hard you work and how persistent you are," adds Villar.
