VILLAR, BALIK-BATAAN
Visits the hometown of his mother

After visiting public markets all over the country, Senate President Manny Villar visits various schools, colleges and universities in Bataan, the home province of his mother Curita Bamba or Nanay Curing who was born in Orani.

Its another special day for me, after I revisited my hometown of Tondo and the public market in Divisoria where my mother and I used to sell fish and shrimps, now I have the opportunity to be in my mothers home province of Bataan, says Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party.

Villar recalls, Last year, I was also here when Bataeos presented me with an award and the year before that, I inaugurated a fishport in Pantalan Bago which is located right in my mothers hometown of Orani.

During the Araw ng Kagitingan celebration in April last year, the Provincial Government of Bataan led by Governor Enrique Garcia awarded Villar the Galing Bataeo.

Villar also helped revive the fishing industry in Orani, which has been a popular fishing town, by helping fund a fishport there. Villars parents, who were Orani residents before, used to buy and sell seafood which his mother used to bring all the way to Divisoria Market.

According to Villar, People should not get confused about the real origin of the Villar family. My father hailed from Iloilo particularly from the towns of Cabatuan, Balazan and Tanza. My mother was originally from Pampanga, but back then many Pampagueos migrated to Bataan. Then we moved to Tondo where I was born and raised.

I am equally proud of my Bataeo, Pampagueo, Illongo and Manileo roots. My origins shaped the person that I am right now. May kasabihan nga tayong mga Pilipino na kung sino ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan, adds Villar.
