VILLAR GETS WARM WELCOME FROM VISAYAN FOLKS

Senate President Manny Villar, who traces his paternal roots from the province of Iloilo, is warmly received in the various towns and cities in the Visayas that he has visited so far in his campaign trail.

We will try to cover as many areas in Visayas and Mindanao as we can because unlike Luzon which is relatively accessible, it is not as often that we can travel to these regions. I am overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Visayans as well as by the breathtaking beauty of their sceneries,

In Leyte on Friday (March 16), Villar combined his tour of palengke tour and campuses by combing through the public markets of Tacloban and Ormoc as well as Leyte Normal University. The day before that (March 15), Villar was also welcomed warmly in Negros Oriental particularly in the so-called City of Gentle PeopleDumaguete where he was the guest speaker in the university convocation of the Siliman University.

Dumaguete is the university town, so I was able to visit the universities that made it popular such as Siliman University, St. Paul University and Asian College of Science and Technology. I am amazed by the facilities of their universities and the quality of their programs or courses. Dumaguete deserves its good reputation in the field of education, cites Villar.

In Negros Occidental recently, Villar discussed with Negrenses how they will benefit from the implementation of the Biofuels Law passed under his senate presidency. Under the said law, one of the biofuels that will be used as an additive to gasoline is bioethanol which is from sugarcane, a main product of Negros Occidental.

Villar has also visited the City of Smiles or Bacolod where he hobnobbed with fellow Ilonggos. I am looking forward to visiting more Visayan towns and cities especially my fathers home province of Iloilo. It is always good to interact with my kasimanwas.
