KIKO URGES COMELEC & CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS TO UNDERTAKE NATIONWIDE DIALOGUES FOR PEACEFUL & HONEST ELECTIONS

Kiko today proposed the holding of dialogues between Civic organizations and Election registrars & officials nationwide.

"The Comelec can take the initiative by holding these dialogues nationwide in order to secure public support for honest elections. If the local Comelec officials are lukewarm to the idea, we urge the media, civic and church groups such as PPCRV, the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions clubs and other groups to pay courtesy calls to these Election registrars in their localities and volunteer their support to ensure that the Comelec accomplishes its mandate of ensuring that the polls are peaceful and honest. These groups should also consider peacefully picketing these offices if the Comelec in the area is uncooperative. Let's fill the Comelec offices with peaceful and orderly elections."

"Our people should persist in sitting down with the Comelec to dialogue and discuss ways and undertake joint activities to keep the polls safe and free. When these Comelec officials nationwide realize how determined civic organizations are in safeguarding the vote, sincere Comelec officials will definitely welcome the help while those with sinister designs will think twice before they involve themselves in cheating because of the vigilance of the people. The people's organized vigilance is the only real deterrence to dagdag bawas at this time. I am convinced that if the people and their organizations in the grassroots are mobilized, these operators will do a hasty retreat, pull back, and dagdag bawas will be prevented."
